Installing the Sensor on the Trawl
The Trident sensor must be installed on the headrope or footrope of the trawl using appropriate equipment.
About this task
- Installation on the headrope: Trident is configured in Down Looking mode.
- Installation on the footrope: Trident is configured in Up Looking mode.
Notice: Remove the Trident sensor from the trawl before winding
the winch or you will damage the housing.
Note: When
fishing close to the surface, preferably install the sensor on the footrope in Up
Looking mode. The acoustic communication with the vessel and echogram images will be
better.
Procedure
-
Place the sensor on the center of the net's headrope if it is in Down Looking
mode or footrope if in Up Looking mode. The side with arrows must be oriented
toward the vessel. Make sure the beams are oriented correctly, depending on the
sensor application:
- Trident Down
Looking: the face with one hole is facing up.
- Trident Up
Looking: the face with three holes and one screw at the
bottom is facing up.
- Trident Down
Looking: the face with one hole is facing up.
-
Attach the sensor to the net using four soft shackles.
Note: See Technical Specifications for shackles specifications. - You can add floats on either sides of the sensor to stabilize it and have pitch and roll values between +/- 5°.
